The English for Business team has recently participated in a workshop taught by Ms Nicola Meldrum. It covered these two areas:

Teaching grammar and vocabulary to scaffold production:

This session has helped us to select, adapt and design teaching tasks more effectively.  We looked at the importance of noticing, focusing on form and meaning and then designed tasks to support production of English language output in class.

Integrating pronunciation:

We looked at improving intelligibility in key areas with a focus on retention of new pronunciation in English.  We saw some techniques for integrating pronunciation more effectively  in every lesson. We extended this to listening skills with a focus on bottom up processing by helping learners listen to the next piece of information they hear instead of thinking about what they missed.
